Every time I start my year-old Hyundai i30 ActiveX the radio on the dashboard reboots itself. I have taken it back to the dealer about three times and despite the firmware being updated ach time it still does this. They said to keep an eye on it and if this continues then the radio will need to be replaced. Now recently, just before I start engine the radio seems to have a static response. I don't think this will solve the issue.

My daughter was in an accident and wrote off her 2015 Hyundai i30, but not one airbag went off. We can’t get answers from the car dealer, they keep giving her the runaround by saying they will ring back but never do. Where can we go to get answers as to why the airbags didn’t deploy?

We have been supplied with only one transponder for the used 2014 Mazda CX-5 we recently bought. Our local Mazda dealer told us it would cost approximately $500 for a replacement. Are there any alternatives?

The sat nav system in my 2016 Kia Sportage Platinum diesel has never worked properly from day one. It does not show roads that were built four to five years ago, often does not show correct speed limits for city or country roads, and directs you to take the long way round resulting in many extra and unnecessary kilometres, particularly when traveling on country roads. Kia advises that there are no updates in the foreseeable future, so I’ve paid for an unreliable sat nav.

My 2013 Ford Focus has been booked in to have its clutch replaced due to recall. At the same time I have a bearing in the gearbox that needs replacing (costing me a few thousand dollars apparently). What would cause a gearbox bearing to wear out, and is it any way related to the dodgy transmission problems synonymous with the Focus?

I have recently purchased a 2017 VW Jetta and when driven at very slow speed it creeps and surges, for example when parking in a car park or similar. Is this a problem due to new technologies — gearbox or turbocharger?

I have just purchased a 2001 Nissan Pulsar Q sedan as a first car, and for the most part I am extremely happy with it. One anomaly I have noticed however is that the temperature gauge tends to fluctuate while on the move, rather than reach the middle of the gauge and remain there. For example, it might increase a bit at first, then reach the middle, but then decrease again. Could this be an issue with the thermostat, or an issue with the electrical system?

I have recently had a problem with my 2002 Toyota LandCruiser Prado. After having stopped at a set of lights, as I was proceeding to go, the engine symbol came on and the VCS turned off, and my Prado went into limp mode. I got to a safe spot, turned the engine off and waited a few seconds, turned it on again and the system seemed fine. However, this was repeated again a little while later at some roadworks, again after having to stop. Any clues as to what the problem may be so I can get the problem sorted before going on a trip up to Broome?
