Car Servicing
I have noticed that the front passenger seat in my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe vibrates a lot and sometimes makes a noise. When I reported it to my dealer I was told it is common on the Santa Fe. Is this correct?
I have a query on my Ford Fiesta Zetec 2013. The car shudders when taking off, almost bunny hops. We have heard a new transmission does not fix this problem. So, is there a fix for this?
A day after fuelling my Nissan X-Trail recently it started chugging and rattling. It isn’t so bad in Park or Neutral, only when it is in Reverse, Drive, or First etc. when it needs to be flat to the floor to get it to do 60 km/h. I've recently drained the oil and replaced it, and changed the spark plugs. Do you know what it could be?
I'm getting all kinds of advice regarding the servicing of the Getrag 'Dual Clutch' auto transmission in my 2012 Ford Focus. The Service Book says 'Yes', as does the local transmission specialist. My mechanic and the local Ford Service Centre says it is a 'Dry Clutch' unit and 'sealed' at the factory. Needless to say, I am very confused.
I was wondering if anybody else has had big issues with their 2007 TK Holden Barina continually stalling and losing revs on start up. So far I have spent over $1000 on this fault and Holden still do not know what the problem is. The computer was reset, the EGR valve was checked and pipe changed, the spark plugs and injectors cleaned. If Holden does not know or won't admit to this fault, then what is somebody supposed to do with these cars?
At its 45,000 km service my 2012 Ford Focus got a software upgrade, but since then it's stopped going four times, once on the highway. The engine light comes on and it slows to about 30km/h. Yesterday it stopped completely. The dealer told me that the "computer chip is faulty and I'll have to keep bringing it back". To make matters worse I have a disability and use sticks or a wheelchair, and I work in the community sector and drive a lot. I feel very unsafe. Can you help?
The driver's side wiper on my 2013 VW Polo skips and shudders in the rain, even after changing the blades. It doesn't shudder on the fastest setting, only on the intermittent and normal settings. I have tried practically everything to stop it from skipping and am getting towards the end of my tether. Any suggestions would be a great help.
My daughter purchased a 2010 VW Golf 118TSI in mid-2015 with about 45,000km on it. It was a one owner and had been serviced by a VW dealer from new. First, the DSG clutch had to be replaced at about 48,000km, which was funded by VW, but now at 51,000km she has been told that piston 4 has cracked and the bill will be $6700 to rebuild the motor. The dealer has advised that VW will not provide any support for this repair, which seems to be contrary to the Australian statutory warranty laws. Are you able to provide any suggestions as to what action we can take to seek VW support on this issue?
I have experienced transmission issues that have grounded my 2009 Holden Cruze and have appealed to Holden's sense of good will for help with the $5500 cost to fix it. Given the model's history for transmission failure and the successful claims that have previously been made, I thought this was justified. Perhaps due to the fact it was purchased secondhand from a car lot, or for some of other reason this appeal has since been rejected. Should I pursue this further or be looking for a bank loan?
We bought a new VW Eos in 2008. It has now done 58,000 km and has never been in an accident. Two weeks ago the airbag fault light came on and the dealer said we needed new airbag at a cost of $1630 plus $225 to fit it. I would have thought that airbags would last the life of the car unless the car has been in an accident. I have made contact with Volkswagen to see if they would help with the cost, but with other inquiries that I have made over the years they have been reluctant to help. Appreciate your thoughts.
