What could be causing my '04 Mazda 2 to stall?
By Graham Smith · 23 Mar 2018

My 2004 Mazda2 has an air intake issue, which causes the car to stall when the revs drop. The throttle body has been replaced, but did not resolve the issue. Dash computer light is now on constantly also. Worried I may be opening a 'can of worms". Appreciate any advice.

How long should I wait for a software update to correct the surging in my 2016 Hyundai Accent?
By Graham Smith · 23 Mar 2018

How long should I wait for a software update to correct the surging in my 2016 Hyundai Accent? I've had the car put on a dyno and the problem is now confirmed as the throttle being too sensitive. No human error, so the bumpy roads excuse can't be used anymore.

Tie-rod replacement
By Graham Smith · 16 Mar 2018

I need to replace the tie rod end on my 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS.

I have watched several videos and it's a fairly easy process, but I noticed that one says to use specific force to tighten the bolts whereas some others just say to snug it down as much as you can. I was wondering how much do I need to tighten things down? I don't have a torque wrench, so no clue about how much force I'm applying.

Is it safe to replace it without a torque-wrench or not?

2011 Ford Territory recall hasn't worked
By Graham Smith · 15 Mar 2018

I have a 2011 Ford Territory RWD TS diesel 6-speed automatic.

In February 2017 I received a recall letter from Ford – Campaign No 16S19 – stating that an intermittent Output Speed Sensor failure may result in an unintended downshift into first gear. At the time I was experiencing this at low speeds as described in the letter. The car was taken to a Ford dealer to address the problem. After this I was still experiencing the problem and returned it to Ford where they could not find a fault code and the car road tested ok for them. But I was still experiencing the problem after this and it became a lot worse in December 2017. I returned the car to a Ford dealer but again no fault codes were logged. They believed it had nothing to do with the recall, but did admit the car has a downshifting problem at low speed.

Do you believe I have a case for some assistance from Ford?
