    Should I buy a 2003 - 2007 Outback?

    Generally, the Outback is a good solid car, well designed and built. My only concern is the age of the cars you’re looking at. While the Outback is a good car all cars deteriorate as they age, so it’s vital when buying an old car to have it thoroughly checked by a mechanic who knows his way round the brand. It’s also best to look for a car that hasn’t been used off-road.

    06 Subaru Outback won't start

    It does sound like your son has been treated very shabbily. You could complain directly to Subaru about the treatment he received. It should also serve as a lesson to your son that he shouldn't allow himself to be bullied in any way. If he isn't sure about what the dealer is telling him, or doing, he should tell the dealer and ask for a full and proper explanation, and even ask to see the parts that need replacing. If he's still unhappy he could take the car to another dealer, or another mechanic.

    High or low when you tow?

    SUBARU technical expert Derek Ashby says that, for cars with automatic transmission, Subaru recommends towing with the transmission in D range. In this range, the TCU can best control the transmission oil temperature through control of the torque converter lock-up clutch to protect the transmission against overheating.
