Sounding and looking like a character from the Transformers, Roborace has unleashed its self-driving race car dubbed 'Devbot' on the Berlin ePrix circuit.

Roborace started on rocky ground earlier this year when one prototype came too fast into a corner and lost it in the first 'race'.

However, since this accident the tech team has worked endlessly to prevent this from happening again and to prove that their car can run at full speed without any hiccups.

Now they have the footage to silence the critics and to show off their progress.

An on-board video has been released of the car cutting some laps at Berlin's ePrix racetrack (located in the heart of the city) at speed and with NO driver in the cockpit.

Completing a lap time of 1:40, which was 30 seconds off the pace set by Formula E drivers, the A.I system still has some way to come but is showing plenty of promise.

This program has created some worries though, like what if these cars become self-aware and want to take over the world? Could Roborace secretly be the real world Skynet

Does this Roborace series sound like something worth watching? Or do you prefer traditional racing with real drivers? Let us know in the comments below.

Following a passion shared by his father and grandfather, Mitchell’s love of cars really kicked off with his Godfather’s purchase of a new Mazda RX-8. Exposure to that car changed his world forever, leading to an RX-7 obsession. To feed his automotive addiction, Mitchell decided to become a motoring journalist and made his mark at several high-profile motoring publications before landing at CarsGuide. While he is a rotary loyalist, Mitchell also has a massive love for Aussie muscle cars, and dreams of one day getting behind the wheel of a Charger R/T E49 (if anyone will let him). His other passions include Queensland, and spending Saturdays with the boys.
