The 2021 Mercedes-Benz A250 carries a braked towing capacity of up to 1600 Kg, but check to ensure this applies to the configuration you're considering.
The Mercedes-Benz A-Class A250 2021 prices range from $43,560 for the basic trim level Hatchback Base to $65,780 for the top of the range Sedan E Phev.
Interior features include extended leather-look trim throughout, dual 10.25-inch screens, one acting as a digital dash, the other acting as a multimedia interface, three USB-C ports, a wireless charging bay, and decently-sized door binnacles throughout. There is also a generously-sized centre console box and glovebox.
The A 250 e can draw on power from both its 118kW/250Nm 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine and its 75kW/300Nm electric motor housed in the eight-speed automatic transmission for a 0-100km/h sprint time of a hot-hatch like 6.6 seconds.
The A 250 e comes fitted with standard items like climate control, a 10.25-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, built-in navigation with live traffic and the ability to search for charging stations, and digital radio.
The must have option, however, is the DC charging pack, which allows the A 250 e to be charged from ultra-fast public DC outlets, as well as doubling the amount of power it can pull down from standard Type 2 AC public charging outlets or home wallbox units.

The Golf is great but questionable beyond the warranty, which rules it out for you. The A3 is a Golf under the skin, so that makes the Mazda3 the safe choice but you should also crunch the numbers on an A-Class and test drive to see if it makes you feel more special than the Mazda for your retirement.

Your choices both get The Tick, but the Benz A250 might be too sporty for a retirement car and the A3 is an upscale Volkswagen Golf. A good mate has just bought an Accord Euro and, even though it goes out of production soon, he loves it. You should test-drive all three.

The A 250 e has the same five seat arrangement as the rest of the A-Class range, although it is notable that the cabin space is not compromised by the hybrid systems underneath. All seats are clad in 'Artico' faux leather trim, and are sculpted for comfort, even in the second row. Space is adequate but limited for taller adults in the second row, but the front seats offer high levels of comfort and adjustment.
