The Camira was Holden’s replacement for the Torana and Sunbird, sitting underneath the Commodore in its line-up.
It was maligned for quality issues, but lasted three generations in Australia, running as a Mazda 626 and Ford Telstar rival from 1982 to 1989.
The line-up currently starts at $2,420 for the Camira Sl and ranges through to $4,070 for the range-topping Camira Executive.
THE Camira was heavily criticised when it was new, and the criticism was justified. They rusted badly, burned oil and fell to bits. Early models should be avoided at all costs, but by the time Holden turned out the JE, most of the problems had been fixed. The problem is they are now at least 15 years old so should be approached with caution.
