Holden Colorado 7 Australia

Based on the Holden Colorado ute – itself based on Isuzu product – the Colorado 7 is a 4x4 wagon with coil suspension front and rear.

Released in 2013, in the wake of GM’s near-bankruptcy post the global financial crisis, the Colorado 7 was critically panned as a poor imitation of the Isuzu MU-X upon which it was based. The range started from $27,600 for the Colorado 7 LT (4X4) and reached up to $39,270 for the Colorado 7 LTZ (4X4).

Re-jigged and improved for 2016, the seven-seat large 4x4 wagon, powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, was much improved – and even got a new name, Trailblazer, which is a nod to a moniker used in other markets.

Holden Colorado 7 Q&As

Check out real-world situations relating to the Holden Colorado 7 here, particularly what our experts have to say about them.

  • Overheating while towing in a 2013 Holden Colorade 7

It will be an ongoing issue when towing. Drive to the conditions, don’t try and tow up hills in overdrive gears when the engine will work harder, and if you’re worried have a heavy-duty transmission oil cooler fitted.

  • Loose "link arm" in a 2016 Holden Colorado 7 Trailblazer

Thanks John. While nobody likes visiting a dealer for warranty repairs, it looks like Holden is looking after you. No doubt this will instil confidence for anyone else with a similar issue.

  • Seven-seat 4WD for towing?

I rate the Colorado ahead of the Isuzu but, if you can make do with something that will tow 2500kg rather than 3000kg, also look at a Hyundai Santa Fe as I give it The Tick.

  • Good option for boat towing?

Comparing utes and SUVs is tough. I get complaints from Grand Cherokee owners, the HiLux is being replaced soon and the Outlander is nothing special. The Colorado SUV is probably best for you but drive a Hyundai Santa Fe before you commit.

Holden Colorado 7 Interior

The Colorado 7's interior was essentially the same as the Colorado ute at the time. Dashboard, trim and front seats were carried over, and the LTZ trim level scored leather. Images won't depict how hard  and ute-like the materials were in general, which will probably come as a surprise compared to other seven-seat SUVs.

Shown above are interior details for the Holden Colorado 7 2015.
