The ST-L marks the mid point in the petrol-powered X-Trail range, and is offered exclusively with a 2.5-litre petrol engine paired with a CVT auto.
The ST-L can be had with five ($36,590) or seven seats ($38,090) and as a four-wheel drive (five-seat only, $38,590). It matches the entry-level ST's 17-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and tail-lights, powered mirrors and automatic headlights, but adds fog lights, roof rails and heated mirrors outside, while inside, the seats are now leather-trimmed, and heated in the front. The ST-L also gets a bigger, 7.0-inch touchscreen that's sat nav equipped.
Safety is covered by six airbags (dual front, front-side and curtain bags), a surround-view camera with motion detection and forward collision warning with AEB, along with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
