RECALL: Hundreds of Ram 1500 dual-cab utes could catch fire

The Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab EcoDiesel has been caught up in a new recall.

Ram Australia has recalled 438 examples of the 1500 dual-cab pick-up over a manufacturing defect that could cause them to catch fire.

Affecting MY14-19 1500s sold between January 1, 2014, and December 31, 2019 and fitted with a 3.0-litre EcoDiesel turbo-diesel V6 engine, the recall pertains to the EGR cooler, which may crack and therefore cause coolant to leak into the intake manifold.

If this were to occur, there would be an increased risk of a vehicle fire, which could injure occupants and/or other road users as well as cause property damage.

Impacted owners will be contacted by Ram Australia via mail with instructions to visit their preferred dealership for a free-of-charge repair.

Those looking for further information can call Ram Australia on 1800 649 607 or reach out to their preferred dealership.

A full list of impacted Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) can be found at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s ACCC Product Safety Australia website.
