As the Polestar 3 launches in Australia for model year 2024, the brand has confirmed a new variant with a lower entry price is incoming for the 2025 model year.

From next year, starting at $118,420 before on-road costs, the Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor will join the existing Long Range Dual Motor and will boast the longest driving range of the model’s line-up.

With the same 111kWh battery as the Long Range Dual Motor, the Single Motor variant will have its electric motor mounted at the rear and will output a respectable 220kW and 490Nm.

While it’ll be more than a couple of seconds slower to 100km/h (7.8 seconds) than the Dual Motor – which does it in 5.0 seconds even without the Performance Pack — the Long Range Single Motor’s claimed preliminary WLTP range of 700km beats the 628km offered by the Dual Motor.

It’s possible that estimate is also slightly conservative, as it’s not yet been confirmed as the final figure - the real world range may in fact be longer. Like the Dual Motor variants, it’s also able to be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in about half an hour with 150kW DC fast charging rates.

Perhaps more important however is the saving of almost $15,000 for opting for the Single Motor.

While the 2024 Polestar 3 in current Launch Edition guise features plenty of otherwise optional extras as standard, the price for option packs on the model year 2025 version comes into play.

At $132,720 from MY25, the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor isn’t any more expensive than the 2024 Launch Edition ($132,900), but it will require a $9000 outlay for the Plus Pack currently included for 2024.

The Pilot Pack, which adds extra safety and driving assist features, is included in all Polestar 3 variants in Australia at no extra cost.

“The Polestar 3 Long range Single motor pushes the boundaries of luxury and performance, all while delivering up to 700 kms in range,” said Polestar Australia Managing Director Scott Maynard.

“It’s a great achievement for a large and spacious SUV, making EVs easier to own and more exciting to drive.”

The 2025 Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor is available to configure and order now via the Polestar Australia website.
