Ford has announced a serious boost to its Ranger ute lineup.
Every four-wheel drive Ranger can now be had with the Blue Oval's beefy V6 turbo-diesel engine.
Ford has ditched the 2.0-litre four-cylinder twin turbo-diesel engine that sat in between the two other main engine options, while the six-speed auto has been phased in place of the 10-speed.
The first of two remaining engine options is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder single turbo-diesel, producing 125kW and 405Nm. The other is a bigger 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-diesel offering 184kW and 600Nm.
The Raptor uses a 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V6, producing 292kW and 583Nm.Â
The range continues to start from $37,100, before on-road costs for the front-wheel drive single cab chassis, with the Raptor topping the list at $90,690.
Ford claims that every Ranger in its lineup keeps the 3500kg braked towing capacity, apart from the Ranger Raptor.Â
This new Ranger will continue to battle in the hotly contested ute market, where it leads in the 4x4 category, bettering that of Toyota’s HiLux and Isuzu Ute’s D-Max.Â
In the 4x2 segment, it substantially trails the HiLux and D-Max, which have almost 39 per cent of the market, with the Mitsubishi Triton also a threat.Â
It is expected that stock of the outgoing bi-turbo diesel variant will last until the middle of 2026, which should coincide with the arrival new V6 stock.Â
Orders on the new Ranger will begin in December 2025.
