BMW Australia has announced the 2019 pricing for its second-generation X4 range, set to arrive in September.
The X4 will be available across one diesel and three petrol variants, with the new X4 M40i M Performance sitting at the pinnacle of the range.
BMW has made the M Sport package, including adaptive suspension, standard across the X4 range which is all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic only. For those looking to personalize the coupe SUV further, BMW is also now offering X4 customers options from its ‘Individual Programme’ including a selection of bespoke colours and trims.
As revealed at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, the X4 has also grown in length and width over its first-generation predecessor, allowing it to gain 27mm more legroom and additional luggage space.
The new X4 range will now kick off from $76,900 for the X4 xDrive 20i M Sport, representing a $6085 jump over the previous 20i entry-point. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol producing 135kW/290Nm.
Coming standard on the xDrive 20i M Sport are 19-inch alloy wheels, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with DAB+ and built-in nav, cloth/leather upholstery, sports front seats, head-up display, automatic tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming rear mirrors, LED headlights, tail-lights and DRLs, automated park assist and three-zone climate control.
While the xDrive 20i M Sport comes standard with 'Lane Departure warning', AEB is still missing from the X4 range.
The xDrive 20d M Sport is identically equipped to the 20i, though carries a $3000 premium over the 20i at $79,900 and is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel producing 140kW/400Nm. It is now the only diesel in the range.
Moving up to the $83,900 xDrive 30i adds a sportier version of the eight-speed automatic transmission, 20-inch alloy wheels, full leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, active cruise control, 'Lane keep assist' and adaptive LED headlights. It is powered by a 185kW/350Nm version of the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.
Sitting at the top, representing a $20,045 jump over the outgoing 35d flagship, is the $109,900 xDrive M40i M Performance. This car scores a 256kW/500Nm version of the turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six engine from BMW's performance-oriented stable.
At this spec you can expect 21-inch alloys, 'M Sport differential', a specially tuned version of the 'M adaptive suspension', 'M Sport brakes', a panoramic glass sunroof, 16-speaker harman/kardon premium audio system, ambient interior lighting, wood interior trim, heated front seats with lumbar support and the ‘Connected Drive Freedom Package’ which includes a 24/7 concierge.
Option packages available on the 20i and 20d include the $2200 ‘Innovation Package’ that adds 'High-beam assist', adaptive LED headlights, wireless phone charging and an upgrade to the 12.3-inch touchscreen. Or, the ‘Comfort Package’ which adds woodgrain interior trim options, interior ambient lighting, lumbar support and heated seating for the front passengers and a 12-speaker premium audio system.
Also available on only the 20i and 20d is the $8,700 ‘Enhance Package’ which essentially matches those lower spec variants to the 30i M Sport trim level.
