I am very happy with my Ford Ranger, except when the outside temp is above 35 deg C and the air-con is on and the idle speed increases to 1000 rpm. If the temperature is less than about 35 deg C it only increases by a small amount. I had it checked when it was 44 deg C and was told this was correct.
Car makers will sometimes reset the idle speed to compensate for the increased load on the engine from the air-conditioning so the engine doesn’t become unstable at higher temperatures. But a 1000 rpm idle would be annoying.
