BMW, Mini and BMW-tuner Alpina have been hit by a wide-ranging recall. According to a federal government recall notice, 26,491 BMW, Mini and Alpina vehicles sold between 2022 and 2024 have a manufacturing defect that may cause signal interference in the electronic braking systems, impacting a driver’s capacity to fully administer their brakes. 

Australia’s fifth-most popular ute, the Mazda BT-50, has been hit with an urgent safety recall.According to the Federal Government’s Vehicle Recall notice board, 55,738 BT-50s built between 2020 and 2024 have been impacted by a manufacturing defect in the Engine Control Module (ECM).“The fuel pump control valve may remain ‘open’ and fuel supply may be interrupted. If this occurs, the engine could stall resulting in a loss of power,” the recall statement reads.Between January 2020 and July 2024, Mazda sold 64,802 BT-50s, meaning the majority sold in that period are impacted by the engine defect.For those unsure if their vehicle is affected, you can check against your VIN number here. Those with impacted vehicles will be contacted by Mazda to arrange an update to the BT-50's ECM at a preferred dealer, free of charge.It follows the same recall of the Isuzu D-Max, on which the BT-50 is based, that affected more than 150,000 examples.

Isuzu has issued a massive safety recall for about 150,000 vehicles in Australia.

Mazda Australia has issued a recall for 860 diesel engined variants of its CX-60 and CX-90 SUVs sold between 2023 and 2024.

Following a near two-million vehicle recall in the United States, Tesla has issued an Australian bulletin concerning 34,993 Model Ys and Model 3s sold in Australia – around a third of all vehicles the brand has delivered. 

Another Takata airbag recall has been issued, this time by BMW Australia with more than 60,000 vehicles affected from the 1 Series to X5 SUV.

In May this year Toyota Motor Sales USA issued a recall notice covering in excess of 100,000 vehicles; specifically twin-turbo V6 petrol-powered versions of the Toyota Tundra full-size pick-up and Lexus LX600 luxury three-row SUV from 2022-2023.

The latest recall in Honda’s global fuel pump saga affects 52,000 cars in Australia, according to a statement released by the Japanese brand via the Department of Infrastructure’s vehicle recalls website.

Why hasn't there been a recall in regards to CVT automatic transmissions in Australia, despite there being recalls in America and other parts of the world? Surely, other countries are having the same CVT problems we facing in Australia?
