The SsangYong Actyon was launched in 2005 as a compact SUV with a unique coupe-style roofline. It replaced the older Korando in many markets and was sold as both a wagon and a dual-cab ute. While its styling divided opinion, the Actyon was aimed at buyers wanting something different from mainstream brands. Some overseas markets also sold it under the Korando name.

In 2006 the SsangYong Actyon Sports ute arrived, giving the brand a stronger presence in the light commercial market. A 2010 update brought a new 2.0-litre diesel engine and a facelifted design, with slightly more conventional lines. Around the same time, production of the original Actyon SUV wound down as the Korando badge returned globally. The Actyon Sports, however, carried on as a standalone model.

By 2012 the Actyon Sports had become SsangYong’s mainstay in markets like Australia. It offered a low entry price compared with rivals and a solid towing capacity. Although later replaced internationally by the Musso, the Actyon name helped keep SsangYong visible during a challenging period for the brand and remains an important chapter in its modern history.

The line-up currently starts at $2,860 for the Actyon A200 SPR XDi and ranges through to $5,610 for the range-topping Actyon A200 XDi.

Ssangyong Actyon FAQs

Actyon surging during cruise

If it does it consistently the dealer should be able to trace the cause quite easily and rectify the problem. If it doesn’t happen all the time it might be a little more difficult, but they should be able to check for a fault using their diagnostic equipment and hopefully find out what is going on.

Missing musso

THERE'S nothing sinister about it. The Musso has simply been replaced by the Actyon Sports. Musso owners are generally happy with their cars. Some have done big kilometres without a problem, and we receive few complaints about them here at Carsguide. Dealers are offering run-out deals, so it's probably a good time to sign up.
