Carsguide Deputy News Editor Tom White had this to say at the time: I’m glad we checked in on our old friend, the Mazda CX-30. Despite being a car with two wheels planted in the future, and two firmly planted in the past, it manages to hold the line against many of its newer rivals, both on the cheaper and higher-tech end of the spectrum.

The 2023 Mazda CX-30 carries a braked towing capacity of up to 1200 Kg, but check to ensure this applies to the configuration you're considering.
The Mazda CX-30 2023 prices range from $26,180 for the basic trim level SUV G20 Pure (fwd) to $48,290 for the top of the range SUV G25 GT SP Vision (awd).
The CX-30 wears Mazda's more recent design language, shared with the Mazda 3 hatch. Interior trim includes contrasting colours depending on grade, an abundance of soft-touch surfaces and either leather or cloth seat trim.
There are five standard colours in the CX-30 range, including 'Snowflake White Pearl Mica,' 'Jet Black Mica,' 'Deep Crystal Blue Mica,' 'Sonic Silver Metallic' and 'Platinum Quartz Metallic.' Optional colours ($595) include 'Machine Grey Metallic,' 'Soul Red Crystal Metallic' and 'Polymetal Grey Metallic.'
The Mazda CX-30 comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, an 8.8-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto conectivity, a 7.0-inch digital dash element, built-in sat-nav, push-start ignition, LED headlights, and even adaptive cruise control.
That actually sounds like a ripper deal to us. Getting any kind of a discount in 2023 when supply-chain problems that have created more demand than supply of many new cars is increasingly uncommon. The eye-watering cost is the dealer delivery charge which is generally higher than it's ever been and reflects that demand from buyers who will pay it to secure the car they want. Some dealers won't negotiate on this cost, others are more inclined to sharpen their pencil to get you over the line.
Also, many of the additional costs you've listed are government mandated and are not negotiable. Those include the stamp-duty and CTP fee as well as the registration charge. Add those to the base price and you wind up with $45,457, meaning you're getting the dealer delivery fee and all those extras for less than $600. That seems pretty darn good in 2023.
