The Mahindra Roxor launched in 2018 as a compact off-road vehicle built for the North American market. Based on the Mahindra Thar, it carried over the boxy design and simple ladder-frame chassis, echoing its Willys Jeep roots. The Roxor was not road legal in most regions and was marketed as a side-by-side alternative rather than a traditional SUV.
By 2020, the Mahindra Roxor faced legal challenges in the United States over its styling, which Jeep argued was too similar to the Wrangler. Mahindra responded with a redesign in 2021, giving the model a new grille and body updates while keeping its rugged diesel drivetrain. The changes allowed production to continue without further disputes.
Today, the Mahindra Roxor remains a niche product in North America, used mainly by farmers, hunters and off-road enthusiasts. While never sold in Australia, it highlights Mahindra’s global reach and its continued links to classic Jeep design.
