Ask Smithy Xtra Holden Adventra cold air induction
Answered by Carsguide.com.au · 23 Mar 2010

Generally it would. The colder air entering the engine is denser than the air that’s drawn in from the engine compartment, which is heated by the engine, so you pack more in to the cylinders. But before you do fit it check to see where the air is being drawn from on your car as many new cars already have a form of cold air intake.

Ask Smithy Xtra Adventra economy

The Adventra was never regarded as a particularly economical car and your numbers confirm that. Holden claimed a combined average of 13.2 L/100 km, which makes your car around normal.

Traps in lpg switch
Answered by Graham Smith · 31 Aug 2006

THE feeling around the industry is it's not viable to convert the Alloytec V6 engine to LPG because it suffers excessive valve recession. It is suggested the cylinder heads need rebuilding after less than 50,000km when run on LPG and the cost of the rebuild is more than the saving you might make from the fuel. If you do fit LPG you will void the warranty on the engine and any part of the car that has to be modified to fit the system. Talk to the installer to clarify the cover he provides on the equipment and the work he does.

Fuel and his money
Answered by CarsGuide team · 21 Sep 2006

THE V8 Adventra was a bit of a dog in many respects, but 20 litres/100km is a bit too high. The Adventra is a heavy old nail so I would expect it to be pretty thirsty. I would think it should get 16-17 litres/100km on average. The only thing you can do is to make sure all is well with the engine and the electronics controlling it, make sure your tyres are inflated correctly and that wheel alignment is correct.

I want to gas up
Answered by Carsguide.com.au · 11 Aug 2005

YOU can contact both companies through their customer assistance hot lines, but you've probably already registered your interest with this letter. Ford has told us there are no plans to have an LPG option on the Territory, but we have heard Holden is working on one for its V6 engine. Having spent some time in the E-Gas Falcon recently, I have to say I'm surprised at its slow sales. I couldn't fault the way it drove and the savings at the pump suggest you'd be in the black after a year.
