Geely Ex2

Geely Ex2

FROM $26,490

The Geely EX2 small hatchback officially arrived in 2024 as a purpose-built electric city car. It quickly became a dominant force in its home market, finishing 2025 as the top-selling vehicle in China. Built on the Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture, the model represents a shift toward more affordable and efficient battery electric transport for urban buyers.

The vehicle received its first significant technical updates in 2025 to improve battery cooling and driving range for international markets. These changes helped the hatchback transition from a domestic success to a global contender. It features a rear-wheel-drive layout and a compact footprint designed to rival established small cars like the BYD Dolphin and MG4.

Overseas markets know the Geely EX2 by several different names depending on the region. In China, it is sold as the Geely Xingyuan or Star Wish. Malaysian buyers recognise it as the Proton eMas 5, while it is badged as the Geely E2 in South Africa.

Geely Ex2 Interior

The interior of the Geely EX2 follows a very similar formula to many electric cars, but prioritises storage space in places like under the centre console and in the sizeable glove box.

Synthetic leather upholstery and sleek screens give the EX2 a more upmarket feel than its price tag suggests, with the general minimalism of the interior reflecting the tech focus of EVs like the EX2.

Geely Ex2 Engine

Both variants of the Geely EX2 are single-motor rear-wheel drive EVs, with the power outputs 60kW in the base Complete or 80kW in the top-spec Inspire. Both variants have 150Nm torque outputs.

Geely Ex2 Speed

The Geely EX2’s modest power outputs in both variants mean it is not a fast car by any measure.

The base Complete takes 14.2 seconds to reach 100km/h according to Geely’s claims while the Inspire takes 11.5 seconds.

Both are limited to a top speed of 130km/h.

Geely Ex2 Range

Geely claims the EX2 has a 345km WLTP-rated range in top-spec Inspire, or just 252km in the Complete.

In the Complete, this is due to a small 35kWh battery and 15.9kWh/100km energy consumption, while the Inspire has a larger 47kWh battery and 15.5kWh/100km rating.

DC charging tops out at 80kW in the Inspire, and 60kW in the Complete. AC charging is 6.0kW in both.
