The Chery Tiggo 7 mid-size SUV made its global debut in 2016 as part of the Chinese brand’s push into more premium and globally competitive territory. Positioned between the smaller Tiggo 5x and larger Tiggo 8, the Tiggo 7 targeted families looking for affordable practicality with a modern edge. It featured contemporary styling, a roomy cabin and an array of tech, aimed at competing with the likes of the Mitsubishi Outlander and Kia Sportage.
A second-generation Tiggo 7 launched in 2020, riding on an updated platform with sharper looks and improved safety and infotainment systems. Internationally, it was sold under different names such as the DR 6.0 in Italy, helping the model expand its global footprint. In some markets, the Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 7 Plus added more upscale features and styling cues.
Chery re-entered Australia in 2023, with the Tiggo 7 Pro landing as a competitively priced option in the booming mid-size SUV segment.
The line-up currently starts at $27,990 for the Tiggo 7 Urban and ranges through to $41,990 for the range-topping Tiggo 7 Csh Ultimate.
Australian buyers can choose from a palette of contemporary exterior colours, including Lunar White, Space Black, Mercurial Grey, Star Silver, and Turquoise Blue.
Standard equipment on the base Tiggo 7 includes keyless entry, a surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
Stepping up the range adds niceties such as heated and ventilated front seats, a larger touchscreen with navigation and a powered tailgate.
Inside, the Tiggo 7 features a tech-forward cabin featuring dual digital displays across the dashboard — a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a matching 12.3-inch central touchscreen.
The design is contemporary, with synthetic leather trim on all grades and ambient LED lighting available in up-spec trims.
Wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof, and a Sony eight-speaker sound system further enhance the sense of refinement and functionality on the top-spec ultimate.
There are two engine options available.
The entry-level Tiggo 7 runs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine (115kW/230Nm) mated to a CVT automatic transmission driving the front wheels.
The headline Super Hybrid combines a revised 1.5-litre engine with an electric motor and a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), delivering a total of 180kW and 385Nm to the front wheels. This system prioritises electric drive at lower speeds and petrol-electric transitions on the open road.

The 2026 Chery Tiggo 7 remains a five-seat mid-size SUV, with the larger Tiggo 8 serving as the seven-seat option in the brand's range.
The seating is upholstered in synthetic leather across all variants. Unique to the higher-grade variants is a driver’s seat with memory function and ventilation, while the rear seats offer a near-flat recline and a 60/40 split-fold for versatile cargo loading.
Boot capacity in combustion versions of the 2026 Tiggo 7 is a generous 356 litres with all seats up, expanding to 1500 litres with the rear seats folded flat.
The cargo area features a two-level floor, underfloor storage and a retractable tonneau cover, making it suitable for everything from weekly groceries to weekend adventures. However, Super Hybrids have a more limited space, with the under-floor area taken up by the 12-volt battery and high-voltage inverter.
Performance varies depending on powertrain.
The new Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid delivers a 0-100km/h time of around 7.2 seconds.
The entry-level petrol-only model takes a more modest 10.3 seconds to reach 100km/h, topping out at 190km/h.
The petrol-only Tiggo 7 claims 6.8L/100km on the combined cycle, thanks to start-stop tech and aerodynamic tweaks.
The Super Hybrid drops that figure significantly, achieving just 1.4L/100km according to official ADR testing. It houses a 55L fuel tank and a 18.3kWh battery, offering a claimed driving range over 1000km per tank under real-world conditions. The brand claims hybrid verisons will drink under 6.0L/100km even when the battery is at reserve level
