The Intens is the flagship of Renault's Kadjar range, wearing an MSRP of $37,990.

Although classified as a 'small' SUV the Kadjar is on the larger end of the category's scale, sharing a chassis and practical dimensions with the Nissan Qashqai. It sits between the Captur and Koleos in Renault's SUV line-up.

The Kadjar is powered exclusively by a 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine (117kW/260Nm) shared with Mercedes-Benz. It is front-wheel drive only via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

A manual version and all-wheel drive diesel version available in Europe will not make it Down Under. The Kadjar is assembled in Spain and has a timing chain rather than a belt.

Standard spec on the Kadjar Intens includes 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels (wearing Continental ContiSportContact 4 rubber), a 7.0-inch multimedia touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and built-in nav, a 7.0-inch digital dashboard, keyless entry with push-start ignition, a fixed panoramic sunroof, electro-chromatic rear-vision mirrors, Bose-branded premium audio, leather seat trim with electric adjust for the driver, heated front seats, LED headlights, LED interior lights, hands-free auto parking, auto high beams, ‘Kadjar’ branded door sills, and extra chrome trim elements throughout.

Active safety on the Intens remains the same as it is on the Zen, including city-speed auto emergency braking (AEB - no pedestrian or cyclist detection), lane departure warning (LDW), and blind spot monitoring (BSM). There is no active cruise or freeway speed active safety available on the Kadjar range.

Renault offers the Kadjar with a new ownership promise which includes five years of warranty, five years of roadside assist, and five years of capped price servicing.

Service interval is 12months/30,000km and pricing for the Kadjar range comes in at $399 for the first three services, $789 for the fourth (due to the replacement of spark plugs and other essential items), then $399 for the fifth.
