Tim Robson road tests and reviews the new Mazda CX-9 GT AWD with specs, fuel consumption and verdict.
As car companies go, Mazda can do little wrong at the moment. Several of its vehicles are the top of their respective categories, including the nation’s most popular SUV, the CX-5.
The company’s all new CX-9 – a replacement for the first generation version - has followed suit, dropping straight into the number one position in the large SUV category, beating the likes of Toyota's popular Kluger.
But is the CX-9 the be-all and end-all for the average Aussie family? We'll find out.
The CX-9 has been designed to cut a sharp figure in the average driveway, and it certainly does that. While the GT is over $60,000, it looks every bit of it, though its sheer size may put off some prospective buyers.
It's incredibly easy to drive, very quiet, and can do a long trip with little fuss. It also looks after all its passengers in a calm, quiet and well-equipped environment.
The price ticket is up there, but the CX-9 is a fantastic car for a larger family that likes the nicer things in life – and isn't fussed about a Euro badge.
