Ford Australia has issued a recall for its Transit Custom and Tourneo vans due to a risk of toxic gases potentially leaking into the cabin under certain driving conditions.
A total of 7509 vehicles are affected with the Ford Transit Custom and Tourneo examples being built between 2021 and 2025.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the 12-volt battery vent may not operate as intended,” said the company in its recall notice.

“As a result, under certain driving conditions such as high temperatures toxic gases may leak into the cabin.”
Ford notes that occupants in affected vehicles may experience a hissing sound, smell of acid or rotten eggs, a visible gas leak, as well as heat in the seat.

If you own an affected vehicle Ford Australia will contact you once a fix is ready, asking you to reach out to your local dealer to book in to have the issue rectified, free of charge.
