Nissan's US-spec jumbo truck has just been updated, with the 2020 Titan fittingly unveiled at the Texas State Fair.

The 2020 updates give the Titan a new face, with a new grille and (and much brighter) headlight design headlining a new-look front end.

Inside, the Titan's "Command Centre" (a clever name for the multimedia setup) scores a new 9.0-inch touchscreen that's both Apple Car Play and Android Auto equipped, and links to an internal Wi-Fi router.

With Nissan's diesel engine scrapped from the lineup, the Titan's V8 petrol engine is the only option on offer, and in happy news, it's more powerful than ever before.

The 5.6-litre Endurance V8 gets 400 horsepower (298kW) and 560Nm of torque. That grunt is fed through a nine-speed automatic gearbox, and can be shuffled to two or all four wheels, with 4WD models making use of Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, a Brake Limited-Slip Differential and a locking rear differential.

It is understood Nissan Australia has all but abandoned hope of getting a factory-delivered right-hand-drive truck Down Under, confirming to CarsGuide it was "more than likely" the truck would be converted from left-hand drive here in Australia, much like with the Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado

“We’re working as fast as possible,” Nissan Australia boss Stephen Lester told us in August. “If we can make Titan specifically happen, it will more than likely happen with conversion. And we’ll have to go down that road of finding who can do that for us.”

Either way, Nissan says it wants the Titan in Australia "ASAP", and so it's highly likely you're gazing upon the very jumbo truck that will make it Down Under.

Andrew Chesterton should probably hate cars. From his hail-damaged Camira that looked like it had spent a hard life parked at the end of Tiger Woods' personal driving range, to the Nissan Pulsar Reebok that shook like it was possessed by a particularly mean-spirited demon every time he dared push past 40km/h, his personal car history isn't exactly littered with gold. But that seemingly endless procession of rust-savaged hate machines taught him something even more important; that cars are more than a collection of nuts, bolts and petrol. They're your ticket to freedom, a way to unlock incredible experiences, rolling invitations to incredible adventures. They have soul. And so, somehow, the car bug still bit. And it bit hard. When "Chesto" started his journalism career with News Ltd's Sunday and Daily Telegraph newspapers, he covered just about everything, from business to real estate, courts to crime, before settling into state political reporting at NSW Parliament House. But the automotive world's siren song soon sounded again, and he begged anyone who would listen for the opportunity to write about cars. Eventually they listened, and his career since has seen him filing car news, reviews and features for TopGear, Wheels, Motor and, of course, CarsGuide, as well as many, many others. More than a decade later, and the car bug is yet to relinquish its toothy grip. And if you ask Chesto, he thinks it never will.
