Chinese cars have conquered a lot of segments, but the next wave of vehicles is going after the best in the business.
GWM has teased its Ferrari-fighting plug-in hybrid supercar, which is the latest in a line of a new breed of performance cars such as the Yangwang U9 and Xiaomi SU7 Ultra.
GWM’s Chief Technology Officer Wu Huixiao previously confirmed the company is five years into a super performance car development program with the Ferrari SF90 and Lamborghini Revuelto firmly in its sights
In an interview with video car blogger @TheBodyguardsGarage, Wu said the company’s car would be better than the Ferrari SF90 Chairman Wei Jianjun had been spotted driving.
Wu also hinted the vehicle could use a carbon-fibre frame as seen in high-supercars from Europe.
Wu added: “The supercar will be stunning once it is launched."
Power will come from a in-house developed 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and a plug-in hybrid system.

This set-up could see the engine mounted at the rear and as many as three electric motors to boost performance well above 500kW.
Chairman Wei recently shared a teaser image of the new supercar hidden under a black sheet.
If the proportions are true, it is a big beast with a long and very low body and a huge back end, which lends weight to the fact it might be rear engined.

GWM is taking a different approach from its home nation rivals, which are focusing on pure electric performance cars.
The Xiaomi SU7 Max, is now the fastest vehicle around the Nurburgring. That vehicle uses three electric motors to pump out a ridiculous 1154kW. That eye-popping power figure is good enough to propel the SU7 Ultra to 100km/h from a standstill in less than two seconds.
YangWang — BYD’s ultra luxury sub brand — also has an answer to the coming GWM in the shape of its U9. It uses four electric motors to deliver an astounding 960kW and 1680Nm. BYD claims it can sprint to 100km/h in 2.36 seconds.
