Aston Martin Vantage 2018 revealed

Aston Martin has revealed its new Vantage, a stunning two-seat coupe, powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine supplied by, and developed in collaboration with Mercedes-AMG.

The new Vantage is an in-house design, taking inspiration from the DB10 and track-only Aston Martin Vulcan, with aerodynamic performance a key focus in its development.

Aston claims the Vantage will accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.6 seconds.

Having seen the new car at a pre-release viewing in Sydney, CarsGuide can confirm the new generation Vantage is a truly dramatic machine.

Aston claims the 375kW/685Nm Vantage will accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.6 seconds, and storm on to a maximum velocity of 314km/h.

As well as the shift from naturally aspirated to twin-turbocharged V8 power, the Vantage now sends drive to the rear wheels via a rear-mounted ZF eight speed automatic transmission, and for the first time features an Electronic Rear Differential (E-Diff) linked to the car’s electronic stability control system.

The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine will produce 375kW/685Nm.

Underpinned by an evolution of the bonded aluminium chassis first seen in the DB11, the Vantage also adopts ‘Dynamic Torque Vectoring’, adaptive damping, and electronically-assisted power steering.

According to Aston Martin, the out-going Vantage was the most successful model in the brand’s history, so this new model is critical to the company’s future success.

The interior matches the striking exterior, with an edgy, free-form design giving the Vantage a more aggressive and contemporary feel from behind the wheel.

A rich mix of Alcantara and leather includes distinctive touches like leather door pulls and stitched leather brace pads on the centre console.

But dynamic form hasn’t overshadowed practical function. A rear tailgate opens to a 350-litre boot space, with double-tier storage for smaller items provided behind each seat.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2018, with exact pricing to be announced in the new year. The current V8 Vantage S Coupe is priced at $239,644 in seven-speed automatic form.
