Transmission problem on 2011 Holden Cruze

I have just read a review about the 2011 Holden Cruze CD regarding the automatic transmission. The same thing has happened to my Cruze where the engine over-revved and the transmission went into low gear and then all but stopped with no power. The car is presently with a motor mechanic to have the transmission fixed at a cost of $5000. Am I entitled to compensation from Holden seeing that the car has done only 97,000 km since new? It appears that Holden knew all about the transmission problem, but didn't do anything about it. This has let a lot of people down. The mechanic informed me that there has always been a problem with the auto transmission on the Cruze models. Where do I go from here?

You need to mount a case for compensation with Holden’s Customer Care service (1800 033 349). It is a known problem, but you have to remember your car is six years old and the warranty expired a long time ago.
