SUV under $40k?

I'm looking at upgrading to a new SUV and first looked at the Mitsubishi Outlander. But I've crossed that off the list and come down to the Nissan X-Trail or Hyundai Tucson. What are your thoughts or do you have another option, spending up to $40,000?

The Tucson gets The Tick from me and rates above the X-Trail, but my first choice is the all-new Kia Sportage.
