WE BOUGHT a 2002 Mazda Tribute V6 last year and anticipated we'd get relatively poor fuel economy, but we didn't anticipate that it would be 20 litres/100km or more. The Tribute is just used for going to the shops and ferrying our child to school. Is this sort of economy correct? I believe we would get better economy from a V8 Landcruiser and have the extra space to enjoy.
THE Tribute is a gas guzzler, but that's far too high. It should be more like 13 litres/100 km. I suggest you take it to a Mazda specialist and have a diagnostic check. There are several possible explanations for the problem, one being the oxygen sensor.
