Hyundai i30 2010: Why is it noisy on the road?

My 2010 Hyundai i30 CW CRDI is extremely noisy on the road. Hyundai said it was normal for this model. After 3000 km the tyres were replaced with Michelin 195/65/15XM1, which gave no improvement in the road noise. It has been suggested to insulate either the cabin or the panels. Do you think it will help cure the road noise?

If it's road noise you should be able to hear coming from the rear in a car like that. Insulating the floor and the rear wheel wells by applying sound deadening material should help. Look for a company that supplies automotive flooring and carpets etc., one like Trufit.
