I have a 1997 Commodore VS II Executive V6 running on LPG which was fitted by Holden. In the past couple of months it has been backfiring and blowing holes in the air-cleaner box. I have had a gas service that included installing new plugs and leads but am still getting the occasional backfire. Is this a common problem and can it be fixed?
Since you have covered the basics of fitting new spark plugs and leads, I'd look deeper. It sounds as if you might have a burnt valve so I'd suggest you get a mechanic to do a compression test on the engine and look for a cylinder that is not holding compression.
