The BYD Seal 6's standard features include:

Inside, the BYD Seal 6 follows its brand's design language quite well, which means it's relatively minimal but not quite as generic as some rivals.

There's still a large central multimedia touchscreen and prominent phone charger, with storage under the centre console and some design elements laid into the dash.

The BYD Seal 6 uses is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that helps an electric motor drive the front wheels while also charging the battery.

The Seal 6 sedan has outputs of 130kW and 210Nm, while the wagon Touring Premium boasts 163kW and 260Nm.

The BYD Seal 6 has a standard five-seat layout, though in the Touring wagon the rear seats fold down 60/40 to create a much larger cargo area.

The BYD Seal 6 can hit 100km/h from standstill in 8.9 seconds in the entry-level sedan Essential, or 8.1 seconds in wagon Touring Premium guise.

Both are limited to a top speed of 180km/h.

The BYD Seal 6 has different battery sizes, fuel consumption, and overall ranges between the sedan and wagon (Touring) variants. Both have 65-litre fuel tanks, however.

The sedan's 10kWh battery allows for a 55km WLTP electric driving range and thus a 1.1L/100km fuel consumption figure with a charged battery or 3.6L/100km with a run-down battery.

The Touring Premium has a 19kWh battery and a 100km claimed EV range on WLTP testing, but has a wider range of claimed consumption figures.

BYD says the Seal 6 can top 1000km on a single tank and full battery in either variant, which CarsGuide verified in the Touring on its local launch.
