Why does my 2011 Mazda BT-50 turbo-diesel lose power at 2200rpm?

When going up through the gears, at around 2200rpm, my 2011 Mazda BT-50 2.5-litre turbo-diesel loses power. It’s best described as feeling like someone has grabbed the car by the scruff of the neck and is holding it back from further revving and acceleration.
