The Ford Ranger T6 is an Australian-designed medium pick-up that’s sold in more than 160 markets around the world. Built in Thailand, the Ranger was updated in 2019 with revised suspension and a new powertrain option for XLT and Wildtrak variants.The XL starts at $27,990 in 4x2 and $41,890 in 4x4, and sits below the XLS, XLT, Wildtrak and Raptor models. It’s available in 4x2 single cab, super cab (extra cab) and dual cab with a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel and a six-speed manual or auto. It’s also available in 4x4 single, super and dual cab with a 3.2-litre five-cylinder engine and a six-speed manual or auto, as well as a 4x4 2.2-litre dual cab/chassis and dual cab styleside ute.It comes with power windows, power mirrors, central locking, cruise control, climate control air conditioning and multimedia touch screen with Bluetooth.

The Raptor starts at $74,990, and sits above the XL, XLS, XLT and Wildtrak models.

It’s available only as a 4x4 dual cab with a 3.2-litre five-cylinder turbo diesel with either a six-speed manual or auto. It comes with power windows, power mirrors, central locking, cruise control, climate control air conditioning and multimedia touch screen with Bluetooth. An optional tech pack can add sat nav and Sync 3 multimedia with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Wildtrak starts at $60,590, and sits above the XL, XLS and XLT models and below the Raptor.

It seems to come with the territory, that forward-fold campers are heavier than they need to be – and there are a few reasons for that.Firstly, most are made in China and, to prevent any possible durability issues, they are made with thicker sections of steel. Secondly, it’s cheaper to build something heavy than it is to build it light. And, thirdly, impressive features, such as checker-plate front storage boxes and dual spare wheels, are heavy.So, it’s refreshing to see a forward-fold, like the Blue Tongue Overland XF Lite Series 2, come in about 200 to 300kg lighter than most other campers on the market, without being completely stripped of features (although, surely that name ads a few kilos, it’s so long!).
