Off road
What is your opinion of the Range Rovers? I believe they depreciate faster than other vehicles, but I am more interested in their long-term reliability. Can you advise if this car is an ideal purchase? Looking at the $130K range.
I'm thinking of purchasing a 2016 Land Rover Discovery HSE SD6 for pulling a Tvan camper across Australia. This used vehicle has never been taken off road, but that would not be the case with me. Before and after any extended off-road trip I would have the Disco serviced, but I have been told that in the event the Disco needs repair finding parts in the outback stations would be harder for a Disco compared to a Toyota 4x4, simply because we see more Toyota's around. Is this true? Does it matter if the Disco is carefully inspected prior to a trip? Do Toyota's breakdown more often compared to a Disco? Any thoughts?
My 2015 Holden Colorado 4x4 had the rear diff seal replaced (78,000 km). The dealer said it was due to water in the diff; six weeks later the yoke and seal in the rear diff had to be replaced due to it leaking again. After a couple of months the diff started to make a winding noise. The dealer said the diff had water in it again and would not be covered by warranty and a replacement diff was $5250 without labour. How can this water keep getting into my diff when I don't go off road or drive through water, could the water get into the diff if the seals were leaking and I am driving in the rain?
