"I've always known the car was there. When I realised what it was I had to have it. It took me 30 years to convince the old guy to sell it to me. I'm pretty sure that it's the only unrestored E49 'Big Tank' in existence," says Jamie. "I was going to restore it, but after getting it running again I think I'll keep it as is. I just don't know!"
Jamie's 'Big Tank' - Body No. 1130 - was sold new by an unknown Queensland dealer (Q301) on Thursday the 22nd of June 1972. Optioned with the 110-litre 'Big Tank' with twin fillers, the car also came with the 'Interior Dress-up' package, which includes carpets, reclining bucket seats, and a sporty 3-spoke sports steering wheel.
Other options include tinted windows, a four-speed floorshift manual with Borg Warner 3.50:1 ratio LSD, and the 265cid Hemi 6-Pack competition engine that punched out 225kW/440Nm.
Of the 21 VH R/T Charger E49s built with the A84 'Big Tank' Track-Pack option, six were painted Hemi Orange, six in Vitamin 'C', four in Hot Mustard and Mercury Silver, and only one in Limelight.
No matter which colour you prefer - they're all rare.
