This disturbing hybrid concept is Mitsubishi's attempt at tributing itself

While I'm not sure that making a tribute to yourself is the most humble of acts, but it's obvious that Mitsubishi's attempt is a pig-nosed abomination that looks more like a joke.

Celebrating 100 years of Mitsubishi Motors Corp, the tributee 'car' consists of a customised 1917 Model-A with bodywork done by Californian fab guys, West Coast Customs.

Famously known the 'TRON' Audi R8, awesome 'Grand Theft Auto' Banshee (which was based on a Dodge Viper), and the 'Pimp My Ride' and 'Inside West Coast Customs' reality tv series, West Coast Customs managed to power the Model-A by pairing the 1917 body with the chassis and running gear of an Outlander PHEV. 'The future is now.'

So yes, technically this is a hybrid. In more ways than one.

Like the Outlander PHEV, thrust is generated from the combined efforts of a two-litre, petrol four up the front and two electric motors at the back. Max power and torque is 120kW/320Nm - but that’s from the Outlander PHEV. No word about the Model A tribute though, but it’d be safe to say it’s a similar figure. Whatever it is, it’s no drag car.

Despite the modifications though, such as the elongation of the body in order to fit the tasteful wheels (which look tucked in to the centre of the car too much), the end result is... questionable.

While we would stand by Mitsubishi Motors and thank it for the Starion, GTO, and the entire Lancer Evolution family, we can't say anything positive about this. Sorry guys.

What do you think of the Model A custom? Is it beautiful, or does it have the face only a mother could love? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
