One of the coolest rides at last weekend's Meguiar's MotorEx wasn't a car, but a custom-built workshop on wheels.
Ryan Carter towed the big rig down from Newcastle with his super-cool 1955 Chevy pick-up truck, which runs the 5.7L LS1 V8 engine, transmission and even brakes from a 2001 Holden Commodore SS.
Ryan's dad originally built the trailer some 20 years ago and, after sitting on his farm for a number of years, the mobile workshop was purloined by Ryan and reconditioned to be used for his business, United Speed Shop. Ryan uses the trailer to haul complete independent front-end suspension units he sells under the "Magnum" name, plus smaller suspension and brake components, merchandise, and even a professional coffee machine for those pre-show caffeine hits!
United Speed Shop will soon start running open-house mornings on Saturdays in Newcastle, where people can come down, get a coffee, and see what cars and projects the boys are working on. Keep an eye on their Facebook to find out when these will start.
