Nissan X-Trail: Error in price negotiation with dealer
Answered by Carsguide.com.au · 18 Dec 2015

I would say that you are in a position of power here, as they want to tear up the deal by asking for another $1880. If I were in your shoes I would refuse their request and demand they proceed with the deal as negotiated. If they refuse walk away and go somewhere else. If they were half smart they would cop the mistake and sell you the car as agreed.

Problems with used Navaras?
Answered by Graham Smith · 25 Dec 2015

The things that affect the Navara are clutch failures and worn injectors. You could check with the vendor to see if either of these problems has hit the car you're looking at. The clutches on most diesels are prone to failure, although some say it's because if driver technique. Most of today's common-rail diesels suffer from worn injectors, it's not a major problem, but it's one you need to be aware of.

It should definitely be replaced. Nissan spokesman Peter Fadeyev says: "This matter can be checked and, if needed, rectified by a trained technician at any authorised Nissan dealer."

Nissan Pulsar 2013: Inaccurate fuel gauge

You should ask for a new sender unit under warranty. They gauge should read properly and Jim Cummings' experience shows there is a problem.

Nissan X-Trail: Speedometer calibration
Answered by Carsguide.com.au · 04 Dec 2015

The Australian Design Rule specifies that the speedo must not indicate a speed less than the true speed of the vehicle, or a speed greater than the vehicle’s true speed by an amount more than 10 percent plus 4 km/h. That means that if your car is travelling at a true speed of 100 km/h the speedo can legally read as high as 114 km/h. On that basis your car would appear to be within the allowed tolerance and is legal.

Best small hatch under 30k?
Answered by Carsguide.com.au · 01 Jan 2016

I would go for the Camry every time after a Maxima. It's $28,990 driveaway for a new car at the moment and is about the same size as the Nissan but much more refined and lighter on fuel.

Best 4WD under $50k for towing and off-road
Answered by Graham Smith · 25 Dec 2015

The towing rating is the main thing you need to get right, and your need to tow a horse float with two horses means you need a heavy four-wheel drive, like a Landcruiser or Patrol. Either one will be up to the towing task, and could be driven by a novice, but would be chore to drive around town.

Nissan Pulsar 2014: Can my mechanic service it?
Answered by Paul Gover · 30 Nov 2015

Provided the service is done "by the book" and with manufacturer-standard parts, there will be no effect on your warranty.

Nissan Patrol 2012: Does it have a 4.8-litre petrol engine?
Answered by Graham Smith · 11 Dec 2015

The 4.8-litre six-cylinder petrol engine was last used in the GU 7 in 2012.

Nissan Navara: Shudders and rattles
Answered by Graham Smith · 11 Dec 2015

It's impossible to diagnose the noise without actually hearing it first hand; the dealer is best placed to sort it out for you. The shudder is something I would be concerned about; it's in the range of city driving and would be annoying. Also, you have to be concerned about it getting worse over time and kays travelled. Certainly press the dealer, and Nisan, to sort it out.
