MG S6 EV

MG S6 EV

The MG S6 EV launched globally in late 2025 as a dedicated mid-size electric SUV. It arrived in Australian showrooms in 2026 to bridge the gap between the compact S5 EV and the premium IM6. The primary goal for this model is providing a family-sized battery-electric vehicle that offers more interior room than a hatchback without a luxury price tag.

This model is a fresh addition rather than an evolution of an old nameplate. It utilises the Modular Scalable Platform which also underpins the MG4 and Cyberster. This architecture supports both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. Engineers focused on packaging and efficiency with the 2026 release. It features a 77kWh battery and a modern suspension setup to handle the weight of the electric drivetrain.

The vehicle shares a core structure with the Chinese-market SAIC H5 but features a unique MG-specific exterior design. In the United Kingdom and Europe it retains the S6 EV badge. It currently serves as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. In Australia it maintains a competitive market position by offering a long-range 530km variant for under $50,000.

MG S6 EV Accessories

Standard equipment for the MGS6 Essence RWD and AWD models includes 20-inch alloy wheels, wireless smartphone charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 11-speaker sound system and a combination of faux leather and suede trim. The only major specification difference between the RWD and AWD, aside from the powertrain, is a panoramic sunroof for the latter.

MG S6 EV Interior

The interior design of the MGS6 is in keeping with previous MG models, which means a simplistic but very modern cabin.

MG is offering two interior options, a standard grey-colour cabin with carbon fibre-style inlays or an optional beige look complete with Scandinavian-inspired light wood-style inlays dubbed Nordic Ashwood.

MG S6 EV Engine

The MGS6 is based on MG’s ‘E2’ EV architecture, which is the same as the S5 and compact MG4 hatch.

The MGS6 RWD has a single electric motor which makes 180kW of power, while the AWD drive option has two motors and 266kW of power.

MG S6 EV Seats

The MGS6 is a five-seat SUV. Thanks to its 'ultra-thin' battery pack underneath the floor, the cabin has good space. This means the MGS6 is a family-friendly SUV option with enough space for two adults of three kids to sit comfortably in the rear.

MG S6 EV Boot Space

The boot in the MGS6 measures 581L with the seats up and 1607L with the second row folded.

The MGS6 is also the brand’s first model to feature under bonnet storage, or a frunk as some people call it, which adds up to 86L of storage space (although that number is reduced to 67L in the AWD).

MG S6 EV Speed

MG says the 0-100km/h time for the MGS6 is 7.3 seconds for the RWD and 5.1 seconds AWD model. Both have a top speed of 200km/h.

MG S6 EV Range

The MGS6 features a 77kWh NCM (Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese) battery, which is enough to provide the MGS6 RWD with 530km of range, while the AWD has 485km of claimed range.
