MG MG4 Urban

MG MG4 Urban

The MG4 EV Urban front-wheel-drive small hatchback arrived in Australian showrooms in April 2026. This model functions as the entry point to the MG electric range, sitting below the established rear-wheel-drive variants. While the standard MG4 focuses on driving dynamics with its 50:50 weight distribution, the MG4 EV Urban uses a front-mounted motor to prioritise cabin space and cost efficiency for city buyers.

This model is a distinct vehicle from the original MG4 hatch launched locally in 2023. It features a softer exterior design and a longer wheelbase to improve rear legroom. In its home market of China, it was first revealed in 2025 and is often associated with the MG Mulan or MG5 EV nameplates in other regions. The car utilizes the E3 platform and incorporates a torsion-beam rear suspension setup to keep the price point competitive against rivals like the BYD Dolphin.

The MG4 EV Urban comes with 43kWh or 54kWh battery options. By offering this front-wheel-drive configuration, MG has lowered the barrier to entry for Australian motorists looking to switch to electric power.
