The GLS450d and AMG GLS63 models come standard with seven seats in a 2-3-2 arrangement. The ultra plush Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 has no third row of seating and is instead available as either a four-seater with two sumptuous executive rear seats, or as a five-seater with rear seating for three.

The GLS interior is spacious and opulent with a panoramic sunroof enhancing the airy and open feel, along with optimised rear leg and headroom to ensure all passengers travel in comfort.

The entry-level GLS450d's standard equipment includes 22-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels, AMG Line styling enhancements, multi-beam LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, seven seats with front seat heating/cooling and heated rear seats, four-zone climate control, Burmester surround sound system, MBUX multimedia with voice assistance and head-up display to name a few. The top-shelf Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 adds exclusive 23-inch alloys and grille, diamond-quilted Nappa leather, premium rear seat opulence including power sun-blinds and digital screens in the front seat headrests, plus much more.

The entry-level GLS450d is powered by a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with 48V mild hybrid technology that produces 270kW and 750Nm. The AMG GLS63 and Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 share a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V8 also with mild hybrid assistance, with the AMG having the highest outputs of 450kW and 850Nm.

The entry-level GLS450d can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 6.1 seconds while the performance-focused AMG GLS63 lowers that time to just 4.2 seconds. The GLS range's top speed is electronically capped at 250km/h.

The entry-level GLS450d has official combined consumption of 7.8L/100km with a theoretical driving range of more than 1100km from its 90-litre diesel tank. This consumption climbs to 13.4 for the AMG GLS63 and a high of 13.7 for the Mercedes-Maybach GLS600, with the latter resulting in the shortest theoretical driving range of around 650km from its 90-litre tank. Both of the V8 models specify RON 98 premium unleaded petrol.
