Medium sedans options

Our class favourite is the Mazda6 but the Toyota Camry, which is often overlooked despite getting The Tick, is great value at the moment and would be a smart choice.

Mazda 6 2015: How does the Atenza rate?
Answered by Paul Gover · 13 Apr 2015

The Mazda6 is currently best in class and ticks all your boxes, as well as getting The Tick from me.

Mazda 6 or Subaru Liberty?
Answered by Graham Smith · 22 May 2015

I have no hesitation is saying the Mazda6 will handle any overtaking or hill climbing tests you might throw at it. The Mazda6 will sprint from zero to 100km/h in 7.0 seconds, a tad faster than the Subaru, which requires 7.1 seconds. They both do about the same on a quarter-mile sprint. There's very little in it. I have no doubt the Mazda6 would be up to the task, but I would recommend you test-drive it and find out for yourself.

What to pick for second hand sedan?
Answered by Paul Gover · 31 Aug 2015

I'd go for the Mazda6, which has a combination of class and comfort, and not the Falcon unless you're a sporty driver. The Liberty in that age was a bit 'off' by Subaru standards because of the Global Financial Crisis, and the 3.6 is no real improvement over the 2.5 unless you tow.

Ford Mondeo 2015: How does stack up against mid-size rivals?
Answered by Paul Gover · 10 Aug 2015

It's not as good as the previous model, which easily scored The Tick. These days I'd go first for a Mazda6.

Mazda 6 2006: Blown turbo on diesel
Answered by Graham Smith · 13 Mar 2015

If the engine is damaged as you state the best option is probably to buy a sound used engine from a wrecker. Rebuilding the engine could cost $5000, a good used engine should be bought for less than $2000.

Ford Mondeo 2015: Is it a good choice?
Answered by Carsguide.com.au · 06 Jul 2015

I think the new Mondeo has lost its mojo. It's nice enough, but not as good as I expected. Personally, I rate it behind the Mazda6 which gets The Tick.

Mazda 3 2010: What's a bigger replacement car?
Answered by Paul Gover · 04 May 2015

Since you already have a Mazda, then the latest Mazda6 gets The Tick and will suit your needs.

Good options for a wagon?
Answered by Paul Gover · 23 Mar 2015

The Mazda6 is very good and great for the price but the Mercedes C-Class wagon is a couple of steps further up the ladder and an excellent car if you have the money.

Midsize sedan options for consideration
Answered by Carsguide.com.au · 23 Feb 2015

I'd choose the Mazda6 from your list, but would also suggest you check out the Skoda Octavia, which is a top car and very good value.
