The only diesel model in the Audi Q2 2018 range is the 2.0 TDI quattro, which also happens to be the most expensive version of Audi's smallest SUV, with a list price of $49,100 - that number is up $1400 compared to its 2017 launch pricing.

The drivetrain is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged unit with 110kW of power and 340Nm of torque, which is plenty for a car of this size. It has a seven-speed dual-clutch with quattro all-wheel-drive, but it isn't quite as refined a drivetrain as the petrol quattro model.

There is a good amount of standard kit fitted to all Q2 models, including the addition of new LED headlights which are far more attractive, not to mention more illuminating, than the existing halogens. The brand’s 'MMI' multimedia controller with sat nav and 'Audi Connect' makes use of a 7.0-inch dash-top screen, and the car comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard in all models, too.

There is dual-zone climate control and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror as standard, and this quattro model gets an electric tailgate, leather-trimmed sports seats, 18-inch wheels with a space-saver spare wheel. A reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, auto emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are all standard, and it has a five-star ANCAP safety score.
