The Lexus RC launched in 2014 as a two-door coupe built on a mix of IS and GS sedan underpinnings. It was designed to sit between the IS sedan and the larger LC flagship, offering a more affordable entry point into the Lexus performance line-up. The model range included the RC 200t, RC 300h hybrid and the V8-powered RC F, with the latter positioned as a rival to European sports coupes.
In 2018 the Lexus RC received a major facelift that sharpened its styling and introduced updates to suspension and steering. The RC 200t was replaced by the RC 300 turbo, while the hybrid RC 300h remained a key option in some markets. The RC F also gained incremental improvements, keeping it competitive against rivals like the BMW M4 and Audi RS5. Overseas, the model has been sold under the same name without major regional variations.
