Kgm Actyon

FROM $44,500

The original SsangYong Actyon arrived in 2005 as a pioneer of the coupe-SUV body style. It combined a high-riding stance with a sloping roofline and was based on the Musso platform. While it stood out for its unique styling, it was also sold as the SsangYong Korando in Ecuador and the SsangYong Nomad in Kazakhstan. A utility version called the Actyon Sports later followed to replace the ageing Musso Sports.

A major generational shift occurred in 2024 when KG Mobility revived the nameplate following its acquisition of SsangYong. This new model moved away from its predecessor's polarising look to become a more polished mid-size SUV. It uses the same platform as the KGM Torres but features a longer and sleeker body. This update marked a transition toward modern technology and a more premium market position.

The KGM Actyon officially launched in Australia in June 2025. It serves as the flagship for the brand’s local rebranding from SsangYong to KGM. Buyers can choose between the 1.5-litre turbo petrol K50 and K60 variants or a new petrol-electric hybrid option. This latest version competes in the busy medium SUV segment against established rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and Kia Sportage.

Kgm Actyon Accessories

The base KGM Actyon K50 is well specified and includes climate control air conditioning, satellite navigation, twin 12.3-inch displays for the electronic instrumentation and central touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, heated/powered folding mirrors, a reverse camera and parking sensors all around. Plus, you’ll find advanced driver-assist safety, such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane-support systems and adaptive cruise control.

But leather and heated outboard seating front and back, powered and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, rear privacy glass, automatic walkaway locking, a powered tailgate with motion sensors and 20-inch alloys are unusual in an entry-level grade.

Moving up to the Actyon K60 flagship ushers in a panoramic sunroof with a solid shade, a 360-degree camera, rear door blinds and a wireless phone charger.

Kgm Actyon Interior

The KGM Actyon’s interior is an impressive, thoughtfully engineered and inviting place, with a sense of airiness as well as lots of space. Premium finishes and thoughtful design help make this a good place to travel in. The sporty front seats are well padded for maximum comfort and support, ahead of a steering wheel that’s thick-rimmed and multi-adjustable. The result is a great driving position and fine forward vision.

The dash is dominated by twin 12.3-inch displays that make up the digital instrumentation and centre multimedia touchscreen. While no buttons are present, KGM has introduced shortcuts to key functions to aid operation and minimise distraction. It’s all pretty intuitive. Additionally, the Actyon scores points for its effective climate control, endless storage areas, useful twin USB-C ports, ambient interior lighting and solid build quality.

Kgm Actyon Engine

The KGM Actyon is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, direct-injection, turbo-petrol engine, making 120kW of power at 5400rpm and 280Nm of torque between 1500-4000rpm.

It drives the front wheels via a six-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.
