The ix35 is definitely a good choice but I lean to the styling of the Kia Sportage and it has a longer warranty. They are mechanically identical, apart from suspension tune.
It's most likely to be a sticking tappet or tappets and it takes time to pump up once you start the engine. In the three days the car was sitting the oil has had time to drain back into the sump, so it will take a short time for the oil to be pumped up through the engine again. Have a mechanic listen to the engine for you to determine where the knock is coming from, or change the tappets.
The Veloster has just had an update and is better, the A1 is all right but the Polo is a ripper little thing that gets The Tick and is my choice.
AM radio is a very low priority for most makers these days. They are far more focused on digital audio. It's great to see you got what you wanted for radio reception, even if it meant a change of cars and brands.
The XC90 is a very old design and one at that price might be a bit doubtful. Your best choice would be a Kia or Hyundai, which are far better than you might think and may even have some factory warranty at your budget.
The BMW GT has a brilliant boot but, if I were doing what you're doing, I'd get a Hyundai Genesis. Perhaps not as prestigious, but the same interior and boot space as the Benz. And there is a five-year free service deal and a five-year warranty, as well as talk of a guaranteed future value scheme.
You are well within the rated towing capacity with trailer brakes, so the vehicle should be able to handle the hills as long as you approach them sensibly by being in the appropriate gear before you start climbing and don't try and rush it. If you are unsure of the weight of the fully loaded trailer have it weighed at a weighbridge.
If safety is important you should order it and be prepared to wait because it is worthwhile. Don't let the dealer try to get you to buy something in stock instead.
The ix35 gets The Tick but there is an all-new model, reprising the Tucson name, coming later in the year. You can either drive a hard bargain now or wait for the new one.
The Santa Fe gets The Tick, and several friends are very happy with new ones. Kia has also just totally overhauled the Sorento and that's definitely worth a test drive.
