The FPV Super Pursuit arrived in 2003 as part of Ford Performance Vehicles’ push to offer a ute with the same V8 muscle as its sedans. Based on the BA Falcon ute, it used the 5.4-litre Boss V8 paired with either a manual or automatic transmission. With unique bodywork, suspension tuning and FPV badging, it quickly stood out from the standard Falcon XR8 Ute.
Updates came in 2004 with the BF series and again in 2008 with the FG generation. Each brought refinements to styling, safety and performance, with the FG model introducing the 5.4-litre Boss 315 V8. The FPV Super Pursuit stayed focused on blending load-carrying ability with high-output power, cementing its place as a rival to HSV’s Maloo.
The last FPV Super Pursuit was built in 2014 before FPV was folded back into Ford. Today it holds a niche following in Australia as one of the final locally developed V8 utes, with no direct successor in overseas markets.
The line-up currently starts at $24,200 for the Super Pursuit (base) and ranges through to $48,070 for the range-topping Super Pursuit (base).
