This mid-size 2.0-litre petrol SUV was part of Chery’s first entry into the local market in late 2011.
While typical cost-of-entry to the category was around $26K, before on-road costs, the budget-focused Chery was pitched at $19,990, drive-away.
And even then the J11’s standard spec list included partial leather trim, alloy wheels and two (count them, two) airbags.
The line-up currently starts at $8,360 for the J11 (FWD) and ranges through to $12,210 for the range-topping J11 (FWD).
